Prioritizing the security of our children

As the first days of school begin, excitement fills the air—new backpacks, sharpened pencils, eager students, and hopeful parents sending their children into classrooms filled with opportunity. These early days of the academic year represent fresh starts, learning, and growth. But they also come with a renewed responsibility: ensuring that our children are not only educated but also protected.

In today’s world, safety and security at schools and churches is no longer optional—it is essential. These are the places where our communities gather, where children should feel safe to learn and grow, and where families should feel confident in their children's protection.

Unfortunately, threats—both external and internal—have become more frequent. Whether it's unauthorized access, bullying, theft, or in the worst cases, violence, the need for proactive safety measures has never been more urgent.

At Circle of Saints, our mission is to fortify the spaces where children learn, pray, and play. From schools to churches, daycare centers to youth groups, we believe that no child should ever be put in harm's way simply because a door was left unlocked or a safety plan wasn't in place.

This school year, we’re calling on all educators, church leaders, parents, and community members to take a stand for protective preparedness. Ask questions:

• Are the entrances secure and monitored?

• Are staff trained in emergency protocols?

• Are there deterrents in place to protect against unauthorized entry?

• Are the security systems up-to-date?

If the answer to any of those is no, it’s time to act.

Security isn’t just about cameras and locks—it’s about peace of mind. It’s about creating an environment where children can focus on what they’re meant to do: learn, grow, and thrive.
